Utah County is growing fast and if you’ve driven through Saratoga Springs during rush hour, you’ve felt it. With the county’s population expected to nearly triple by 2050, traffic has become a daily challenge. Thankfully, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has some big plans that are already in motion, and they’re going to make life a lot easier for those of us living on the west side.

More Roads, Less Traffic

Right now, Redwood Road is doing the heavy lifting as the main road in and out of Saratoga Springs, but it’s getting overwhelmed. UDOT projects that if nothing changes, your morning commute could go from 13 to 27 minutes over the next few years. That’s where the Mountain View Corridor comes in.

UDOT is planning a 10-mile extension of this freeway through Saratoga Springs, and it’s already moving fast. A new section connecting 2100 North in Lehi to Porter Rockwell Boulevard is set to open in 2026. That means better, faster access to Lehi, I-15, and all the places you’re trying to get to without having to battle Redwood Road every day.

What This Means for You

This new section of Mountain View Corridor will connect straight into Porter Rockwell Boulevard, giving Saratoga Springs residents a much-needed second option for getting across the valley. Think easier access to jobs, schools, shopping, and everything in between—without the traffic headaches.

But the big news is the next phase: a full 10-mile extension from Cory Wride (Pioneer Crossing) down to Redwood Road near Pelican Point. Once completed, it’s expected to pull over 22,000 vehicles a day off Redwood Road. That’s a huge deal for anyone who’s ever sat through back-to-back lights trying to get home.

More Than Just a Freeway

This project isn’t just about cars. The plan includes two wide, multi-use trails along the new freeway, perfect for biking, jogging, or a weekend walk. It’s a great addition for families and anyone who wants to enjoy Saratoga Springs’ outdoor lifestyle.

There’s also a big safety benefit. Right now, Redwood Road is the only evacuation route for much of southern Saratoga Springs. The new freeway will give us another way out during emergencies like wildfires, adding an extra layer of protection for our growing community.

Looking Ahead

Mountain View Corridor is part of a bigger 35-mile vision to connect Salt Lake County to Utah County. The Porter Rockwell connection is already changing the game, and the planned Saratoga Springs extension is set to take things even further. UDOT is doing its due diligence with an environmental study through summer 2025, and they’re listening to public feedback to shape the final plan.

Bottom Line

If you live in or near Saratoga Springs, these road improvements are going to change the way you move. Less time stuck in traffic, more time enjoying your home and neighborhood. Whether you’re heading to work, picking up kids, or trying to sneak in a sunset bike ride, the Mountain View Corridor expansion is a big win for all of us.
